ATTAINMENT AND PROGRESS

*Please note that there has been no standardised national testing since 2019. The performance measures in this section are therefore not current, but date back to the 2018-19 academic year.

We are very proud of all our children’s achievements and in particular the good progress they make while at West Hampstead Primary School.

Our children achieve very well in the core subjects, however as a school we also make sure that we celebrate achievements in all areas. This may be great progress in PE, an exceptional piece of art work, developing a real talent for music or learning to care for others.

Progress in 2018-19

Progress information is yet to be released for the 2022 national tests at KS2.  The following information relates to the most recent progress data set, based on the 2019 statutory test results:

In Year 6, children's progress from Year 2 is compared against the average progress made by all children nationally.  Average progress is indicated with a score of 0 (zero).  Better than average progress is indicated with a score of up to +10, and slower than average progress with a score of up to -10.  The majority of schools have progress scores between -5 and +5.

These results show a picture of strong progress from low starting points on entry to the school.  At the beginning of Reception in September 2018 only around 20 - 25% of children were performing at the expected level for their age in each area of learning.

By the end of the summer term 2019 this had increased to 62% of children attaining the Early Learning Goals in all of the Prime Areas, Literacy and Mathematics.  By the end of Year 2 the children were attaining just below the national levels in reading, writing and maths.  In summer 2019, the combined measure of expected attainment in reading, writing and maths for Year 6 pupils was 67%, which is above the national level.  Our children's progress in Mathematics in Y6 (+3.5) puts us in the top 15% performing schools in the country.

Our Pupil Premium statement below outlines how well our Pupil Premium children have done, as well as outlining how our Pupil Premium funding will be spent in the 2019-2020 year.

The attainment summary below gives a more detailed information about the school's performance in 2018 - 2019.  You can also find information about the  school’s performance on the Department for Education website.
