In the Autumn term our key focus is to settle the children happily and really get to know them well. We want to help them to develop good relationships within the class, establish good listening behaviour for learning and provide activities to develop fine and gross motor skills to support writing development, use of tools such as scissors and to promote self-help skills such as fastening zips.
Our topic for the Autumn term is ‘Stories and Rhymes’ and the texts we have chosen will help to develop language skills and an enjoyment of story books.
Our key texts will include:
So Much by Trish Cooke
Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
Brown Bear, Brown Bear , What do you see? by Eric Carle
Peace At Last by Jill Murphy
The Pig in the Pond by Martin Waddell
Stanley’s Stick by John Hegley
A New House For Mouse by Petr Horacek
We will also be introducing many songs and action rhymes across the term to support language development.
Please see the attached Autumn Term letter below for more information about learning and routines in Nursery this term.
