Summer term learning
We have an exciting term planned for all pupils!
In nursery and reception classes, we continue to derive musical activities from the books they are reading weekly. In addition, they will be teaming up with year 3 to perform a Celtic folk piece at the Summer Fair.
Year one will be participating in a regional project; Orchestra Up Close. They will be meeting the instruments and families of the orchestra, learning popular classical works and performing them with a real live orchestra at the Cockpit Theatre in May. Look out for the pictures on the website!
Year two are travelling all the way to Brazil to learn the rhythms and music of the samba capital of the world. Look out for their performance at the Summer Fair!
Year three are participating in the Primary Cluster Festival in June and will be learning set pieces as well as continuing repertoire on recorder. Parents are welcome to join us at Kingsgate School on the afternoon of Monday June 25th.
Year four continue on ukulele, consolidating the main chords and arranging pieces for performance. Look out for them at International Evening!
Year five are starting steel pan. They will be learning how to play the various types of pan in our panyard. There will be a club on a Tuesday after school until 4.30pm. Look out for them at International Evening on June 27th.
Year six continue to learn calypso and more complex patterns on steel pan, with their club being on Thursday after school until 5.00pm. They will be accompanying songs in assemblies this term and performing at the Summer Fair aswell as International Evening. After SATS, we will be rehearsing and producing the end of year show.
