Individual instrumental and singing lessons

Many pupils have individual instrumental lessons with peripatetic teachers from Camden Music Services. Pupils are able to learn piano, violin, clarinet, flute, ukulele, guitar, trumpet, trombone, voice and drum-kit with a range of Saturday morning extras from Camden Music Hub.

A Note from Ms Woodfield

I did not grow up in London but in the city of Belfast Northern Ireland. I grew up playing in orchestras and singing in choirs and, yes, having individual tuition on piano and bassoon. My parents paid hundreds of pounds in order for me to have sporadic individual lessons with teachers in London. It is simply incredible that we are able to offer lessons with such high calibre musicians here at West Hampstead for such a low price!

Joel Armishaw

Joel is one of our piano teachers who visits our school on Wednesdays. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, he has played as a soloist at many prestigious venues around London including the National Gallery, Claridge’s and The Mandarin Oriental.

Agnieszka Teodorowska 

Agnieszka Teodorowska is a professional cellist and certified Music Teacher. In West Hampstead, she teaches the piano, her second instrument. After performing various styles of music all over the world as a solo cellist and with multiple bands, Agnieszka became very passionate about exploring how creative education can help children to establish a wholesome, fulfilling future and consequently embarked on considerable training in alternative music and art teaching, including: Dalcroze: cross-arts embodied music learning; Kodály: progressive methodology of learning through songs games and their analyses; Colourstrings: approach rooted in solid musicianship, improvisation and performance which she additionally supported with a psychology and group work analyses study. She also just completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Performance.

Fran Lombardelli

Fran is our drum teacher who comes in on Wednesdays. She is currently studying percussion (not just drum kit) at the Royal Academy of Music. She has been principal timpanist for several opera companies both here and in Germany and has even performed in the Royal Opera House. 

Emanuele Fitzzotti

Emanuele is our guitar/ukelele teacher who joins us on Thursdays. He is one of Italy's foremost blues and rock guitarists. He spent a year studying at the Guitar Institute of Technology all the way in Los Angeles America which skyrocketed his career as a session guitarist. Luckily for us, he eventually settled in London in 2011 and decided to give teaching a try. 

Julianne Quirke (Julia-Maria)

Julia-Maria is an Irish popular singer who joins us for lessons on Wednesday mornings. Her debut EP 'With Me' is a great way to get to know her style. Holding a BA in popular music and with over 6 years of teaching experience, she would be delighted to take on more pupils from our school.

Clea Thomasset

Cléa Thomasset is a professional flute player, singer and composer who has recorded and performed in prestigious venues all over Europe and Brazil across a variety of genres such as jazz, Chanson, Brazilian, contemporary and electronic music, hip-hop... She owns a bachelor’s degree in music Pedagogy from the French University of Haute Bretagne and studied traditional music with Brazilian masters in Rio de Janeiro. She has been teaching individuals and groups for many years in various settings, including EYFS and SEND.

Bradley Jones

Bradley is a professional trumpet player who plays on the international circuit. He has performed at London's top music venues; toured Europe and beyond as part of various orchestras and been a trumpet fellow of London's Southbank Sinfonia. He comes to us to teach brass to Y6 on a Wednesday afternoon and would very much like to give some individual lessons on trumpet in the morning.

Peter Thornton

Peter Thornton is a professional trombone player and guitarist who comes to us on Wednesdays with Bradley to teach brass to Y6. Having studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he is in demand both internationally and at home to play many different types of music ranging from classical to Scottish ceilidhs. 

Donat Berkoz

As a classically trained pianist and music scholar, Donat has taught piano and music theory for over twenty years, both as a private tutor and peripatetic music teacher, to all different ages and abilities, including early years, primary, secondary and undergraduate level students. He completed both his BA (2003) and MA (2006) in Piano at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory.  In 2007, he received a second Master’s degree in music from City, University of London. He completed his PhD in 2012 at the same university.  Between 2014 and 2015, he studied fortepiano at Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance.  He completed his PGCE at UCL Institute of Education in 2016. He has been working as a secondary school music teacher in London besides his private piano tuition since 2017. At his current school, he recently established a piano academy aimed at KS3 students. He also supports GCSE music students with their piano performances. 

Donat is passionate about teaching piano and greatly enjoys supporting and inspiring young people to develop their performance skills. As a piano teacher, he has helped students prepare for a range of qualifications, including ABRSM and Trinity College London examinations, from Grade 1 to 8. He provides students with well-planned lessons based on established programmes of study, and tailors his lessons to meet the needs of each individual student. He always aims to make lessons accessible, enjoyable and stretching, with an extensive repertoire ranging from Baroque to 20th Century music styles.
